Voting Question: Is this illegal at my job (hotel in NC)? If so, how do I report it?

I feel like my place of work is breaking many labor laws. Here are a FEW of the things that they are doing. 1. They say they pay my friend salary. She has never signed any contract. They tell her she has to work at least 45 hours a week and she clocks in and out for 45-60 hours a week. On her paycheck it says pay rate= $10.00 and hours worked = 40 hours. It says this every single paycheck. 2. They just TOLD me they are changing my pay. And it will be effective for the current pay period which started a week and half ago... I work at the front desk, bar and restaurant. They said they are giving me 7.50 plus tips at the bar, 8.00 at the front desk and 9.00 in the restaurant. Also they said that if I work over 40 hours I do not get overtime because I work in 3 different departments each week and it is different rate schedules so I don't get over time. 3. I just found out that they have not been giving me any of my room service tips. The hotel has been keeping them due to an error in the computer and the way I am ringing them up WHICH THEY TAUGHT ME HOW TO DO. Is any of this legal?? If so, what is legal and what is illegal and how do I report it in the state of North Carolina. This is at a hotel that is franchised as well.

Ok so my daughter is 14 years old her boyfriend is 16 years old. We live in Hollister North Carolina and her boyfriend lives in Greensboro North Carolina (only 2 hours away) her and 2 of her closest friends wants to go to Greensboro to Visit him and some friends alone. They plan on staying at a hotel and going out with him his friends and his mom. I plan on meeting the boy first and his mother. Should I let her go? Please help! thank you! Its not another state they stay in the same state where we live and where they live is 2 hours away.

Voting Question: does anybody know of hotels that allow dogs over 100 pounds?

We have a 130 pound dog and are having trouble finding a place to take him, because most of what we find says "no pets allowed" or "80 pound limit" or whatever. We were planning to go to North Carolina, while making frequent stops in Shreveport and Atlanta. So does anybody know of some hotels that will take our dog?

I live in north carolina. and my grandma wants me to go with her to meet my aunt half way. (she lives in michigan) so i think there is nothing wrong with that, But my husband doesnt want me to go cause he is gonna beoff work.but its just a there and back trip. i leave saturday morning stay at a hotel and be back sunday afternoon. let me give you some details, i have a 5 month old baby my aut has nevr seen and i havent seen my aunt in a lonnng time. an my grandma took a weekend trip all the way to michigan 2 weeks ago. that i didnt go on because my husband didnt wantme to leave that long. he says that i love my family more than him and that they're more important than him and all that if my aunt wants to see her she can come all the way down here and all that. my grandma says that he is manipulating me and that im not the same person anymore because i never used to let anyone tell me what to do not even my own mother. and that he is elfish and all this crap so in the end i call my grandma tell her im not going because i have my own family now and that i have to respect my husbands decsions that she needs to respect it and that im really sorry and i cry for 2 hours straight cause im so freaki confused and really just dont know whats right from wrong my decision making skills are being blurred with emotions. What do you think did i do the right thing or should i go and why??? i know its crazy asking a bunch of strangers for advice regarding my personal life buti need an opinion form an outsider

Okay so this is the beginning to my first chapter of my book, what do you think? (: Katy Wells walked into the bathroom at 4 in the morning. She had been feeling sick for the past few days and hadn’t been able to sleep. She flipped on the lights and felt her bare feet touch the cold tile on the floor. She quietly closed the door of the hotel bathroom, so she wouldn’t wake Logan, her loving boyfriend of 5 years, who was soundly asleep in there bed. She looked at herself in the dirty mirror. She had mousy brown hair that went to her shoulders, it fell in loose, natural curls. Her eyes were emerald green, like her brother’s, Kris, were. She had tiny freckles sprinkled across her nose. Her frame was petite, short and not to thin, but not to heavy either. Katy wasn’t like those singers who starve themselves and wear bras and panties onstage. I might’ve forgotten to mention that Katy, also Kris, were famous singers. They had been singing since they could walk. Katy felt suddenly nauseous and bent over the toilet. She threw up bile from not eating. She was to tired after there concert to eat so she just fell asleep, when Logan woke her up to tell her they had arrived to the hotel she had him carry her to there rooms from the exhaustion of the tour, and from her sickness. Katy snickered under her breath in annoyance as she flushed the toilet. She knew that it was back. She knew the symptoms of it. She had decided the day she started feeling sick that she would keep it a secret, at least until her and Kris had finished touring. Just then the door opened to the bathroom, Logan stumbled in. “What are you doing in here?” he yawned, rubbing away sleep from his eyes. Katy giggled, at the sight of Logan, his beautiful dark chocolate colored hair was tousled in a mess. “Oh sorry hun, I didn’t mean to wake you up, I couldn’t sleep,” she gave him a tiny frown. He chuckled, still rubbing his eyes. “It’s okay, but will you please come back to bed?” he gave her his best puppy dog face, she hated when he did that, he knew she would cave. “ Fine, fine just stop doing that! I hate it!” She laughed. Logan hoisted her to her feet and he sprawled out on the bed. Katy lay down on Logan’s chest, and he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “I love you Katy,” he smiled and kissed her forehead. “I love you too, Logan,” She turned, and gazed into his stormy grey eyes. He gently pecked her on the lips and they beamed at each other. Katy fell asleep in his arms after that. Logan was still awake and glanced out the window at the sandy beach of Emerald Isle in North Carolina, the ocean glistening in the moonlight. They’d be getting up in a few hours to get on the road he thought, “Next stop, Charleston, South Carolina.” He turned his head to look at Katy sleeping soundly in his arms. Logan looked at Katy’s hair, noticing how long it had grown in 2 years. He visioned the day that he had heard about Katy, he had drove to the hospital as fast as he could, dodging the traffic. He burst into the hospital room with Kris and Daniel at her side, Katy crying in the bed. Thank you for that answer! I agree, I didn't want to just flat out say "Katy is a singer" but I had the hardest time thinking of a way to put that. Thanks!

Resolved Question: Does anyone know North carolina laws regarding renters and air conditioning?

My air conditioning broke in my home and I notified the landlord. He siad he wouldn't be able to fix it for three days. It broke on Friday and he said he could not repair it til Monday. I spent one night in the house with temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees and asked the following night if I were to stay in a hotel if he would take it out of my rent because the heat was unbearable. He said he was not entitled to take it from the rent and then he said he was not entitled to provide us means of cooling the home until the repairs could be done. AN argument ensued and now he is filing to evict me because I argued with his wife. Does anyone know of any houseing codes or laws that would prevent him evicting me?
